Uses permitted with Type NM

What does your locale rules for commercial space say? NEC 334.12.

No, nm cannot be in a dropped ceiling except for a one and two family dwelling. @irving1008

334.12 Uses Not Permitted.
(A) Types NM, NMC, and NMS. Types NM, NMC, and NMS
cables shall not be permitted as follows:
(1) In any dwelling or structure not specifically permitted in
334.10(1), (2), (3), and (5)
(2) Exposed within a dropped or suspended ceiling cavity in
other than one- and two-family and multifamily dwellings

I have seen NM in some commercial space, but it was a building from 1970's and all wood framed. Unless the locale allows it I would caution on the side of NEC and say no.

You could run raceway in the suspended ceiling area, place a junction box on a wall, exit the back of that box with NM cable to run within the wall though.
