Using a propane torch to bend 3/4" - 11/2" Pvc pipe in a Residential Townhouse

I carry a pistol grip yellow MAP torch in my truck tool box for smaller PVC and use the heavy duty weed burners for the larger stuff. I'll cap the ends it seems to heat up quicker when I do that.
I will cap one end or stuff a rag inside when bending the end on a long piece. If it's short piece, I'll cap or stuff the rag in both ends.

Me and a couple of guys cobbled together a nice heat box out of a dumpster clothes dryer that we took the heating element from, some roof flashing and 2x4s. It worked very well and we tossed it back in the dumpster when we finished the job. Too bad because it cost nothing and worked great.

I have an old baseboard heater that had a failed high limit switch. High limit switch replacement cost almost as much as the whole unit and needed to wait for shipping when the whole unit was on hand. Can't really install the heater without the limit switch for liability reasons. Makes a great PVC heater with a piece of rain gutter as a cover though.

Hawaii is a now a magnet for fire news, for obvious reasons. Your safety officer doesn't want to be the next headline, and it would probably be the end of your career if you were part of it. Be smart and just do it another way.

Lots of hvac guys are scared of propress for refrigerant but not scared of it for Gas

That's because gas is typically (within structures) less than 1 PSI. Refrigerant is north of 425 PSI, and mini splits are supposed to be pressure tested to 550-600 PSI.

As for the OP's situation, I haven't used a torch to bend PVC in years. We have heat blankets up to 3" and a Greenlee hot box 1/2-2". At some point we will get the bigger hot box for 2-1/2-4". The hot box is awesome, and way faster than the blanket, but the small blanket is easy to keep on the truck to do a couple bends.
