Using a washer and dryer in Europe (Apologies if this isn't the right place)

US dryers use single speed line frequency centrifugal start motors
And, as I said earlier, and your schematic shows, everything but the heater uses the neutral. One would have to use a 1:1 transformer with a center-tapped secondary.

Hi. As an American living in England, I can tell you that your washer will have several problems here, one of which is space. They use front loading machines here, which on average are on a 10 amp fuse, and heat their own water. they also use less water than American machines, normally.
Dryers are not common but you can buy them and my daughter swears by hers, which is a condenser dryer with no vent to the outside. It works but you really see the electric bill.
Just to give you an idea of cost... the local Argos has a washer for 160 pounds, that is pretty decent, washes around 7 Kg at a time... and the had a dryer right next to it...

Also, just to give you an idea of efficiency, I am trying to find a wway to wire my retirement home in Jamaica to allow me to bring the washer and dishwasher from Britain, because they both are more efficient than US models, from a water standpoint as well as poer usage standpoint, yet they heat their own water with only a cold water hookup. Very much a consideration when your hot ater is going to be solar.

More likely a 13A fuse which is fitted in the plug top. And they are quite different to American plugs. And the wire colours are different. And so is the spelling of colour...........
Just a few more obstacles.

yoou are correct. all plugs here are 13 amp but require a fuse in them... in this case, it has a ten amp fuse, at least on my washer... and there is a lable on the plug stating replace fuse with ten amp fuse... just like my lamp says only replace fuse with three amp fuse.

I think the bottom line is that importing the appliances is a non starter.

yeah, because even if he bought the step down transformer here... like used on job sites, the plug would still be different and it uses a transformer system so technically is 55v to ground...
