when we were running the feeds for the pool lights in the deck my boss wanted to use copper pipe instead of emt pipe. what is the advantage of doing that or do you have to according to code?

I've only seen it once that way but it made sense to me since that pipe does fill with water.
are you confusing copper pipe for red brass conduit?Controls said:I have never seen anyone using copper pipe for electrical installation, interesting!!?. I know this is not saying much. Everyday, I learn something new. I like to see/learn what others say about it.

sorry i pressed the wrong quote button. i ment to quote the OPControls said:Electricalperson, I guess you meant to quote OP (banshee134), I am not saying anything about copper pipe. I have never seen copper pipe been used for electrical purpose (besides copper water pipe for grounding) . That is what I am saying.
i usually use PVC for pools. i actually never used any type of metal pipe when i do pools. i never had a problem with corrosion or anything caused by the pool waterearshavewalls said:Pool contractors use this conduit because it is resistant to corrosion. If you use emt, you must protect it. I'm not quite sure why PVC isn't widely used, it may be an effect that chlorine has on the plastic.
