Still young in my electrical career , "It is better to ask and be a fool for a moment rather than assume and be a fool for a lifetime". Posing the question not only gave me a solid basis to go off of and reassurance for my initial belief, because I have engineers with no real background in electrical who question everything to a fault and drive me nuts, but also introduced me to some topics such as pull up and pull down resistors. Thanks to everyone for their input and advice
