Vacation time?

Trust me, its not something I have ever done, but its a great way to get a paid vacation when you dont normally get one. Could I or have I put money away for my vacation times? Of course, but a normal job usually yields a week or 2 of paid time off regardless of savings habits.

Well, it's not really a "paid" vacation if you are the one paying, eh?
:D

If you get in the habit of squirreling away 8 - 10% of your gross paycheck on a weekly basis(even if you land at a paid vacation job), you'll have some money in the bank...I guarantee it :)

Come work for me. I will let you drive your own truck ad use your own cell phone also. I will even let you cut my grass own your own time of course:D
You may have to suck it up right now but I would be looking very hard and if you do find something that is better I would not give the jerk the Courtesy of a notice. How many vacations dose the boss take?

Saving money isnt my problem, getting a paid vacation is. I am taking my week off regardless, I just assumed that I deserved a paid week off for my devotion. Oh well, job hunting.

You'd probably have him stick a magnetic sign on his own truck advertising your business too.

You're a helluva guy!

:D

Make sure there are NO assumptions while on this hunt.

You got that right. I will say, when I was hired, I didnt expect anything. Things changed when my role did.

Yea, and if he supplies all the tools I might get the black and gold stick on letters for his truck:D

Let me ask another question, on the job site with my personal truck, someone hit the rear quarter panel pretty good yesterday and drove off. I cant get anyone to fess up to it, and now im stuck with a damaged truck. I figured 1-2,000 in damage.

Since I am using my truck for business, should my employer pay my $500 insurance deductible?

Are you useing your truck for business or are you just driving back and forth to the job site? If you are useing it for business then you should get paid some sort of milage rate. This would allow you to use the truck as a tax write off. Business miles. Anything that happens to it you are normally stuck with.

If you are just driving to the job site most companies won't pay just because the accident happened at work.

If it were me I would want the company to pay for milage so I could use the business expense. With the price of gas it can really add up these days. A lot more than a $500 deductable.

First you have to answer 2 questions:
What type of jobsite/s are you on - resi., comm., jobbing?
Are you REQUIRED to use your truck to transport tools and/or materials?

I am sure after five years the boss will just jump at the chance to pay your deductible. OH, this is the same guy that said no to a weeks vacation. Never mind.
