Trying to find a code article to determine if venting machine receptacles located on the exterior of a commercial occupancy require GFCI protection. Have not been able to find any reference thus far, any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at 422.51 and 210.8(B)(4).

In 2008 code ALL receptacle installed outdoors require GFCI protection except those that are not readily accessible and installed for snow melting/de-icing.
