vfd's indide air handler

We had to replace motor and upgraded controller to vfd's. The contractor installed vfd's inside air handler. Is this exempt from NEC? I am concerned cuz feeder conductors and control wires are bundled together and they clamped down directly on conductors with supplied 2 screw connector! I'm thinking a violation of 430.73, but was told it must have passed inspection.

Is it a "Packaged Roof-Top"? On another thought remember that VFD's contain electronics that can be temperature seneseative sometimes within rooftops are not the best locations depending on the local that they are installed.

Yes its a package unit and the vfd's are inside. I dont like the location but apparently the correct rated enclosure was "too expensive" so putting them inside avoided this additional cost.
