Vibration causing the lamp to loosen

I'd think this an easy one for you all.

I have a customer who has an med base HID lamp wall mounted fixture where the lamp keeps vibrating loose. What's the fix for this?

It's not a short period of time - but I guess it's about every month or so that they discover the lamp is loose or they assume it's out and when they try to replace it screw it back in. Is there any kind of dampner that others use to prevent this?
 
I have had a similar experience just this week. not with HID's but with your standard fluorescent fixtures. They had roof top hvac units and a suspended cieling. The fluorescent bulbs would vibrate loose and go out. I showed them how to fix the problem in the future short of insulating them from the building steel somehow. First time I had ever seen that.

IMO, probably have to pull down the light and either, install bolts to space the lamp off the wall and use a tube of silicon around it. Just some 1/4" bolts/ threader rod, 1/4" fender washers.

I was thinking a blank or cushion but thats not to code / listed or in the manufacture spec's, beside its an HID and those get toasty.

I'd pull it and cut the conduit a small length and using metal flex, or flex to it,
or on both sides if its a run through AKA in/out of light, hopefully isolating
it along with the first suggestion.
 
I have one particular fixture in my own home that used to do the same thing (paddle fan). I took a thin straight screwdriver and put a little "plink" bend in the top edge of the metal screwshell, and put the lamp back in. Problem solved. (just don't tell the UL people)

Thanks for all your replies - that was way too much fun!

They've actually decided to try Loc-tite (thanks Larry), they want the least amount of effort to solve the problem.

This was my first time on this forum and it was a great experience - see ya all next time!

I would guess that would depend on the type used but I think a lot of the loctite products say you can use heat to remove the bond but that would require a torch so I'm guessing it wouldn't be flammable. I'm checking with the company just to make sure but so far what I've read doesn't suggest that it is flammable.
