Saw this walking up to a store ....obviously stopped me dead in my tracks:

I think it's safe to assume there is at least 1 more 90? under the pavement leading into the store's basement.
 
visibly seems to be 360ish... but you know there is atleast one more 90underground. probably two by the time it gets to it's desination, unless it's a ground chase.

What if the 4-90 bend rule didn't exist today, and one tried to get it into the code. What would the substantiation as a danger be? and what would your chances be? (assume you are not a box manufacturer on the code making panel)

What if you didn't want "no stinkin j-boxes" had a relatively short run with oversized conduit but wanted 8 bends...for whatever reason. It isn't inherently dangerous, you "overdesigned" it to allow conductors to be pulled in...why not?
