So.....can 22 volts kill you if it were bolted to a pair of tight copper bracelets?

If not, what is the lowest voltage, given a proper connection, that could kill you ?

Define proper connection in terms of resistance? Simply put no. Skin resistance is too high for 22 volts to move any significant current.

You can have a zillion volts flowing through your body,
Volts don't flow

Ok OK I am being one of the nit picking PITA Sorry

But you don't always have to overcome normal skin resistance. Wet skin can have a resistance that is lower by one or two orders of magnitude.

You can also puncture the skin and get to the main current path: the muscle tissue. The muscle tissue has a relatively low resistivity.

The reactance is two to three orders of magnitude lower than the resistivity, depending on whether the current if flowing parallel or perpendicular to the muscle fibers.

Women generally have less muscle tissue than men so tend to have a higher resistivity.

Thus my point in "Define proper connection in terms of resistance" I said simply put meaning all the scenarios you listed are not "simply put". Also simply put ignors the term "impedance" since the human body would essentially be a resistive load. Any capacitive or inductive resistance would be on the level of splitting hair physics calculations and not relitive to real world application. Simply put I would grab hold of 22 volt leads any day and not be the least bit worried I would feel it. Now if I were a weak female with no muscel and you slit me open jabed two probs in and poured some salt on, then its different.

Simply not allowed.:D

You can have a zillion volts flowing through your body, and if the amperage is low enough, you wouldn't even feel it.

I haven't seen rattus around here lately, but if he were here now I'm sure he would point out that volts don't flow. You would have a zillion volts across your body, not flowing through it.:grin:

Edit: I see mikeames beat me to this. I hadn't read the whole thread when I made my post....I've got to quit doing that. :)

Microwave in the BEDROOM? ..?

I have used a micro wave to warm up.....oh, nevermind.

When I said "proper connection", I meant a good solid contact, like if the CIA wanted info out of me and they strapped on some 3" wide copper bracelets.

How much would they have to crank up the voltage before they killed me?

That OK I almost wrote "Beat ya to it" until I hit the quote button and saw your edit.

Turned out a piece of the chicken wire stuff the tile guys use was touching the hot at the vanity receptacle energizing the chicken wire which provided the path to the shower door frame.

.

The chicken wire stuff is called lathing (in case you were interested) I was just cut by some today

To about 30 volts

Excuse me if I didn't read everything closely in this thread.

Is the subpanel wired with 4 conductors?

I'd suspect copper water lines more than a drain (especially with pvc).

You may have done it already, but I'd give serious consideration to isolating the offending circuit, rewire it, add additional circuits if needed. And the subpanel needs to be fed with 4 conductors.

Done.

Removed offending circuit completely, removed sub and added new circuits.
