voltage drop calculation

vd = 2 x `12.9 x 11.5 x 580 = 172086 = 6.5 volts

I need to run the circuit for a 1.5hp water well. The control box says that the pump will use 11.5 amps @ 240 volts. The total length is 580ft. The well company ran #10 wire down the well to the pump. I show that #6 should be used for the well due to voltage drop. Would it be code compliant to run #6 up to the well head, then use their #10 that runs from the well head to the well pump?

Yes.
You could also switch to 10 or even 12 at a handy location near the well head for an easier transition.
