I recently took part three of the admin test missing it by 1 question:mad: . There were two questions on the test that I struggled with. Both asked to leave out the house and laundry loads. These were both for a duplex house. I know what the laundry load is but not sure what the house load is. My laziness has left me with only two weeks to complete the test before I have to start all over again, and that does not sound fun. So any help here will save me an ulser.

thank you

I understand the direction you are approaching with that section of code but it seems too ambiguous of a section for the type of question it is on the test. The question does not state which items are house load and which are not.

In that case, I'd just use your best judgment - sometimes, they throw extra info in just to make it more confusing. If it just said "disregard the house loads" but didn't offer a square footage of the common area, or a VA amount for the house loads, they're probably trying to make you waste time. Don't fall into that trap. :)

That is OK. It doesn?t need to. You know from earlier portions of Article 220 that you need to include 3 VA per square foot, 3000 VA for small appliance circuits, and whatever else the test question gives you for loads (e.g., electric range, electric water heater, disposal, air conditioning, heating, etc.). But telling you to omit laundry, you leave out of the calculation the 1500 VA laundry circuit and you leave out the 5000 VA that would have been included for an electric dryer.

Now, when they say to omit ?house loads,? you don?t need to know which loads those might have been. Nothing in the preceding paragraph is ever included in the ?house loads.? All the question wants you to do is to add up the stuff described above.

?House loads? might include a common lobby, a game room, the superintendant?s apartment or office, a common laundry room, a swimming pool or other recreational area, parking lot lights, and a host of other things. Just forget all about such things, and add up the stuff that is actually installed in each unit.

Best of luck on your next attempt. It took two tries to pass the test, and I'm sure you can do it on your second try.
