It's not required, but you can be guaranteed if someone has a closet that fancy they will want some installed.
If this is a closet, the chandelier is not a permitted type fixture as per 410.16(B)

I never knew this. Thanks for pointing this out. I am assuming this is new in the 08 or 05. However in this case there should be an exeption IMO written into the NEC for closets that are large enough that it is no danger of hot bulbs igniting anything just like in a dining room. After all this closet is bigger than most average sized dining rooms.

When I was contracting, I was involved in a residential project where the wife had a 2,000 sqft closet, that was 3 stories in height. It had a computer guided contraption similar to the dry cleaners that would pluck her outfit and accessories that she input in the computer...all based on the type of function she was attending. I believe she had almost as many shoes as Emelda Marcas (or whatever her name was). I was told that she had a $25,000 a month clothing allowance of which she never could contain herself to.
