Does anyone know if it's a code violation for an in use 120v receptacle mounted near the evaporator in a walk-in freezer to exist? It's needed to keep the drain line heater functional. There is no weatherproof cover.

Thanks

Re: Walk-In Freezer Receptical

should be ok as long as the conduit is sealed where it exits through the wall or ceiling of the cooler. As to weatherproof, many schools of thought on that one. I recommend compression connectors and weatherproof boxes, but have also seen standars boxes and set screw connectors pass inspection. The important thing is to seal the conduit.(duct seal, silicone, etc in the conduit)

I believe the cooler is a damp location and will require listed equipment for use in damp locations.

This comes from article 100 definition of a damp location:

Location, Damp. Locations protected from weather and not subject to saturation with water or other liquids but subject to moderate degrees of moisture. Examples of such locations include partially protected locations under canopies, marquees, roofed open porches, and like locations, and interior locations subject to moderate degrees of moisture, such as some basements, some barns, and some cold-storage warehouses.
