Okay I think I found the deal killer for a single oven.

T220.55 Note 4. Branch-Circuit Load. It shall be permissible to calculate the branch-circuit load for one range in accordance with Table 220.55. The branch circuit load for one wall-mounted oven or one counter-mounted cooking unit shall be the nameplate rating of the appliance.

Had to cheat and read ALL the rules didn't you

If it were connected to a 240 volt system the current would be higher. The 208v part really has nothing to do with the question I was just wondering.

Info plate did not have MOCPD listed. Info plate also had 17.9 amps at 240 v

That is the nameplate but is this 240V or 208V. If it is 17.9 at 240V then it would be less at 208V as trevor stated. It would be 15.5 at 208V

Yes, I agree, knowing the code sections to look in to determine what rules are used to calculate what THE NEC requires is important, But I understand the manufacturer trumps the NEC. It can calculate out to 10 amps, if the manufacturer calls for 225 amp ocp that is what we need to provide. Right?

When I get a kitchen remodel call, I get the models of the ovens, ranges, and cooktops, etc. from the customer and find out from the manufacturer what they require. Fast, simple, (knock on wood) no errors.

I just checked, the name plate info seems correct.

This what I found on a spec sheet.

Single ovens are rated at 4.3 KW at 240 volt
and 3.9 KW at 208 volt.

Thanks for refresher - I forgot about Ohms law of V=IR (many years since school). As voltage goes up so does current with constant resistance.
