Wall Penetrations

Can you have an exposed ceilings with walls that are floor to ceiling where wall penetrations are necessary where conduits pass from room to room?
 
I imagine if you are dealing with exposed concrete ceiling than walls would be floor to ceiling thus leaving no"hung" space for the horizontal conduits to pass through and you would need to penetrate the wall for you conduit runs. Correct?

Possibly, if no chases exist in the block walls. Every wall may not run all the way to the ceiling if it is not load bearing and not part of a fire rated separation.

Certainly, as jumper pointed out, if you have an internal load-bearing wall it will be full height. In that case, it is likely, but not always, a fire-rated wall. You'll need to use a UL listed penetration assembly to pass conduit from one side to the other. It's not as scary as it sounds. Anyone who makes "fire caulk" has a collection of drawings showing exactly how to use their product on their web site.

Studs, drywall, concrete, bricks and block- all they are is in the way. Now if you go deep into String Theory you might find an equation that allows you to treat the space on either side of the wall as uninterrupted in alternate dimensions but existing at the same time and sneak the conduit through the vortex; otherwise, you gotta make a hole.
 
Add a linear accelerator into the mix and now we're talking about complicated wall penetrations - I would go for a stable wormhole over core-drilling a few feet of wall at a 45 degree angle!

hopefully you had sleeves in the pour, I remember doing a cancer center in the springs, the equipment co tech watching over you thru the whole install.
