 i have a story to tell, it goes like this, the gc calls the ec to come out to do a warranty replacement on a liebert 100a 208/120 3ph surge suppressor, it is wired on the end of 3 panels, 1 main 225a and 2 subs, the suppressor is wired in the last sub panel in the bottom of the panel feed from a 100 amp bkr.
he gets there i let him in to the mech rm, and he says, ok see ya, i call when i get done, i say ok, i got other things to do, so i leave and he call's back
about 3 hrs later, and says i got it replaced,

so i go check this morning,

and find he put in a 30 amp liebert surge suppressor instead of an 100 amp liebert surge suppressor he changes the 100amp bkr to a 30 amp bkr,

what happend to doing what is right?

what would you do?

I'm cornfused.

Who installed it originally?

The GC called you to do warranty work?

You didn't replace it, but the GC did?

Why is it mounted on the very end panel?
Is this the only TVSS on the distribution system?
What did the original specs call for?

Any chance you could tell the story again, so we know which 'he' is which? Maybe made-up names.

Did you compare the specs of the old unit to the new?

i knew, you would ask, so i wrote down the spec's, the vpk's are the same
400, but the original suppresor was a 100 amp 3ph unit, the one the ec put in was a 30 amp 3ph small one, it was a liebert unit,he mounted it in a big can so it would not be so obvious. but, i got a screwdriver:D

the cost to the ec would be 1/3 of the original unit's price.

If this was warranty work, I'm not even sure why they'd cut a corner like that. Is the original unit still in current manufacture?
