Washington State Testing for the 2014 NEC

FYI Washington state adopts the 2014 NEC July 1, 2014, but per our state electrical department, exam testing will remain on the 2008 NEC for 12-18 months.
Most of the exam questions are not code cycle specific. If you use the Mike Holt exam prep material you will do just fine.

No, he is saying that the State of Washington is two cycles behind. It was a decree from our former governor that put a stop to all new code-related work. The stated intent was to save money. We never did (and never will) adopt the 2011 NEC. That is why (for the next few days, at least), my forum signature tag declares that my comments are based on the 2008 NEC. :happyyes:

Wow, in WV the edition of the NEC for testing typically leads the edition for adoption.
Usually the new edition is used for testing when it has been out 6 months.
Usually it takes more than a year to adopt the new edition.

Charles why will Washington never adopt the 2011 code? If you ask me its makes sense to go to the latest however we are 2 behind as well.

As Tom mentioned, Washington will adopt the 2014 NEC effective tomorrow. So there is no point in doing anything with the 2011.
