I was wondering what brand and type of blowers you are using on aeration tanks..

I have five 1500 gallon aeration tanks and we have gone through a few blowers now..using five seperate blowers is costly and ineffeicent..I am looking into a new style but have not been able to locate a varity..I was thinking a lobe style or a screw style..

anyone have experience in blowers..I am looking for a durable one and effecient to operate..at 24/7/365 they need to be tough..thanks for your ideas..

no VFD's, 5-1 hp's on single phase 230V.. if I stay small enough I can put VFD on and make 3 phase..

I was looking at a omega twin lobe but was wondering who else makes them..

these are what I have found so far..I would like an assembly but will build it to get what I want..

edited: I even look at rotary screw compressors they are designed to run 24/7/365..I thought a blower might be less maintenace..

Blowers

Blowers

The ones that I have worked on were by Dresser Roots. I do beleive they go by Roots at this time. I don't know if they have something small for your application but it don't hurt to try. If you want some contact info pm me.

I am using gast vein pumps now they are noise and generate allot of heat..I was looking at some root pumps..how do they hold up..I think If I can trade five motors and pumps for one I can save allot..I did not design the aeration system but when I ask the engineer how many CFM I need he says enough to make the bacteria work..I had one pump that produce .2 cfm at 2.9lbs of pressure and this pump engineer sent me..lasted 2 years then by by..as you can tell I am frustrated..

I could use the formula for calculating the water pressure that is in a tank 6ft across and 6ft above the aeration bars..Then I can calculate how much pressure I need to over come the water pressure in each tank..

you may find the reason for using five seperate blowers is the same reason for having five separate tanks. redundancy. These kind of systems tend to be down a fair amount.

actually at 7000 to 10,000 gallons daily we are not down but long enough to get the pumps back up and running..the pumps are the only weak link in this system..they are also the most costly to operate..trying to kill two birds one stone..

I have this whole operation on a plc and an auto dialer with complete monitoring anything goes wrong the computer calls you..
