It took me a while before my wife was comfortable with me not wearing my ring. Although I never had any close calls, I began to get concerned when wires would get caught on rough-ins. The more I imagined that happening with a live wire, the more I was ready to take it off. She was eventually fine with it.

I haven't worn my ring on the job since I got it. My wife mostly understands. I offered to have it tattooed on. Thankfully, she has not taken me up on this offer. She now calls it my WWF (Weddings, Wakes and Funerals) ring because that is the only times I wear it.

I wish I would have gotten the tattoo of a wedding ring on my finger. There only about $50 where I live. And yes I do believe in the do death do us part but, why make it over a ring.

Way back, when I was an apprentice, I read a letter to Dear Abbey. It was from a widow who insisted her electrician husband wear his wedding ring.

I heard enough stories like those here before I was married to know not to wear the ring to work.

My company policy is no exposed jewelry at work. None of my 4 married employees mind. Can't speak for their wives.

As a women that used to be in teh field - i totally understand the dealings with not wearing a wing.

When I fist got engaged and was still out in the field, it was hard not to wear the ring. But I wore it around my neck.

Not that I'm in the office, and go back once and a while to do electrical work, I take off the ring. I know better.

However - i won't give up my necklaces even though they tend to be metal. Would this ever be a big concern? They are not the long and loopy ones, but probably could pose a damage threat if it came to happen just so...
