I am installing a weigh belt in a Class II, Div 2 Group F location. Does the NEC require that the load cells on the weigh belt be intrinsically safe? Other requirements?
Division 2 (any Class) rarely needs intrinsically safe or nonincendive wiring methods, they're OK of course, just not necessary unless the load cells are not suitable for the classification. Check Section 502.10 for other appropriate wiring methods,
I can't imagine load cells that would not be suitable for a Class II location. I would be concerned about static discharge, and other electrical equipment on the weigh belt if the weigh belt was not designed to handle combustible dusts.
