You know him as "iwire," or as "Bob," or as the most prolific Forum participant with a total number of posts approaching 10,000. You may have learned a thing or two from him (as I have), and you may have disagreed with him from time to time (as I have). But now you have to be nice to him - - - - just kidding - -
- - I mean that I would like you to join me in congratulating him for his appointment as a Moderator of Mike Holt's NEC Forum.
Bob's profile says no more than that he is employed in the arena of electrical construction and maintenance, and that he lives in Massachusetts. To get the rest of the story, one need only read some of his many contributions to this Forum. You won't have to read very many of his posts to recognize that Bob knows his business, that he is aware of his limitations, that he knows his way around the code, that he cites references to back up his statements, and that he freely admits when he's made an error. These are the qualities you would look for, if you find yourself in need of technical information or professional advice. These are among the reasons he was appointed as a Moderator of this Forum.
The duty of a Moderator is to simply to monitor the discussions and to intervene when a discussion violates the Forum rules. A moderator can edit or delete anyone's post, relocate or delete an entire thread, and we have all taken these actions when we saw the need. Mike Holt has asked the Moderators to preclude the use of the Forum by persons who are not electricians who are seeking assistance with do-it-yourself projects, and by persons seeking information to help them win a lawsuit. He has directed us to prevent any discussion from evolving into a political debate or a discussion of "union versus non-union." He has instructed us to remove any post that advertises any type of product or service for sale, and to remove email addresses and phone numbers to protect the privacy of the members (even if it is a member who has placed their own privacy at risk). Finally, he has said that he wants the Forum to be a vehicle for frank and open discussions of professional issues by members of all sides of the electrical profession.
Once again, welcome to Bob (iwire).
