What am I missing? Sizing of SEC, OCPD, and calculated load.

Here's what I have.....

Underground, POCO fed meter back to back with 200A MB Panel at a town green.

Within a 3'x3' 3R enclosure, the panel has 10 20A SP breakers feeding 10 GFCI receptacles. There are no other loads.

On Wed. afternoon the town's Electrical Inspector failed my 4/0 aluminum (180A@75C?) between the meter load lugs and the 200A Breaker line lugs.

I have a calculated load of 7.5A - 220.14
SEC sized to carry load - 230.42(A)
OCPD sized per 240.4(B)

Table 310.16 and "article 230" are the best I can get out of him.

Am I overlooking something?

You are overlooking the inadequacy of his rejection notice. He needs to be more specific and from what you have said I would say you are compliant

don;t think you are ovelooking anything excpet maybe (a) age, (b)stubborness, (c) lack of knowledge..traits many of us inspectors suffer from
based on reading years of posts here. I'd venture to say about1/2 your answers will be (1) fight it or (2) not worth the fight, install 6 ft of 250 AL . The road you take will depend partly on (a) and (b) above.

LOL, thanks guys for the chuckles and the reassurance.

There are actually 4 separate locations so it'd be 24' of 250AL :)

I kept the question brief and to code as this has already gone back and forth and back again between me, the town EI and the State EI.

My biggest problem now, is that it's starting to get political

This sounds like one issue worth fighting. If you don't they'll have you using 250 al on every job after this.
