?How to win friends and influence people? is a great place to start. I cant even begin to count how many bad meetings, adversarial GCs and upset clients I have been able to effectively win over with what I got from that book.

This is a great book. Guys say I just fall into money. I just smile.

I actually have the Leadership CD I listen to in the car.

Has anyone read ILLUSTRATED RESIDENTIAL WIRING with Code and Safety? It covers 2005 and 2008 code cycle methods along with exerpts on inspection inspired references of caution on what the AHJ may enforce from NEC interpretations. I must mention, this is the latest of one of my books. rbj

I am going to go look for this book. I am sort of fed up with trying to get customers to understand that I dont write the Code Book... They think i am trying to Pad the job. Lately there seems to be personality conflicts between me and customers or maybe I should just get out of the field and hire a competent Journeyman.

It's stupid simple but it works and if I had read that book when I was 18, I would be a LOT further along than I am now.

Sometimes when I read posts here about PITA clients and such the first thing that comes to mind is that book.

You , Inc.
The Art of Selling Yourself

Harry Beckwith, Christine Clifford Beckwith

It was listed here in a previous runs on must reads.

Its frankly a long conversation of (or short stories on) the things that these two have witnessed, experienced and the ins and outs of people in public and their individual pitch.

I enjoyed it.

Returning a phone call was the number one response of people polled,
It was not required that the professional answer their question, its just that they called.
" It turned out that all the caller wanted was for a professional to to call back promptly"...

In a world filled with indifference, any gesture that tell someone "you are important" appears to that person as a gift.
