These are sort of like "Shark-bite" plumbing fittings, in that they are something that is quick and easy to use in some situations, but otherwise not normally used in normal build process.

They can be used in the normal build though. However you don't see them as a common preference because line men do not like them.

Probably because of the "bounce, roll, and giggle" that was mentioned earlier!
Indeed. Opening them is not to bad, but try closing them with the conductor going upward dampening the force needed to seat the blade.
