Sour grapes, maybe?
Is not so useful if inner end of the reel isn't accessible though. I have a reel of URD right now that was cut to length at supply house but was to have multiple cuts off it in the field. Now I am down to the last run and will have to unreel it to find out if there is enough left for this last run as I can't get to the inner end to see what the marking is there. I ordered the cut not knowing much of the exact path it would need to take when buried. Had two other reels for same project that ended up having enough on them hopefully this one does as well. That part is either way for me.
Footage markers would be amazing. Even if it was only every 2 or 5 feet. I'd take anything
I may not visualize what you saying. Is not so useful if inner end of the reel isn't accessible though. I have a reel of URD ri....... ..
Not if they weren't told what the starting number was when the cable was spooled.I may not visualize what you saying.
Why do you need access to the end? If the cable is marked with the footage you will know how much is left.
Yes. And you can't assume it's exact. Not if they weren't told what the starting number was when the cable was spooled.
I see, "....when the cable is spooled". Yes that makes sense. Not if they weren't told what the starting number was when the cable was spooled.
In this case, we're talking about writing down a number, not measuring anything.Yes. And you can't assume it's exact.
I think it only has to be within 10%
I figured the issue was not knowing how many feet you have remaining. In this case, we're talking about writing down a number, not measuring anything.
It is.I figured the issue was not knowing how many feet you have remaining.
Yes, exactly. That's also what I was referring to.It is.
I think the concern is: Let's say he ordered 235' for three runs of, say, 100', 75', and 50' with a 10' extra.
After making the first two pulls, he wants to be sure the 10' was enough extra before pulling it in.
I do plenty of low-voltage work. Those cables all come with footage markings.
White 12/2 would save the day on some remodels. I could say it was existing and not needing arc fault protectionI have several old roles of white 12/2 NB-B sitting on the shelf. I plan to use it on my new house next spring. Wondering how badly this will spin the inspector, LOL.
I don't think the inner end is always zero on original reel either. Not if they weren't told what the starting number was when the cable was spooled.
