What ever height you choose I always use a laser to be sure they are on the money, particularly if there is a tile back splash or boxes are in close proximity to each other.
Do you make your initial height measurement from the highest point of the floor that the base cabinets will be sitting on?

I try for 46 to center and try to get all devices at same around the space Switches etc. I too like the laser level to line up all boxes. Regardless of preference the code does have a requirement, so knowing finished height of countertop is important.

(2023 NEC) 210.52(C)(3)(1)
(3) Receptacle Outlet Location.
Receptacle outlets shall be located in one or more of the following:
(1)On or above, but not more than 500 mm (20 in.) above, a countertop or work surface

Also a work surface that might be placed lower than "normal" for ADA compliance in specific installation the above can force you to put it lower over the countertop/work surface than the light switches not at the countertop.

Nothing worse that getting everything installed and have to go back and move because someone decided to or to level the counter ended up higher than expected (been there). Or design changes from a stone counter to a Formica with integrated backsplash.
How many have come back after rough-in to find a full height cab covering the receptacle location or the tiler had covered the box location without making full cutout and tile was a surprise because not part of original plan and now box is recessed?

How about a plaster that covered all your work, and you have to use a supper magnet to find you outlets ?

Any height that works is ok.

A countertop is typically 36 inches off the floor.

If you have a full tile backsplash or something like that, then anything above 37 inches is usually good.

If you have a post form countertop with a 4-in tall backsplash, then you need to set your electrical boxes at least 41 in off the floor to the bottom or 43 to the center or 45 to the top.

I'm remodeling my own kitchen, not quite done. But I put my receptacles low and horizontal. The center of my boxes are 39 in off the floor.

I use a laser to set all my countertop receptacles.

However, I don't line up the bottom, top, or center of the box - I line up the device screw holes.

The reason is that I use fiberglass boxes; and the thickness from the hole to the edge of the box is different between a single gang and multi-gang. If you line up the edge of the box, your screw holes aren't the same height from singles to others.

We always did 43" off the subfloor or off the finished floor. I also install my switches at that height also so it is nice and linear. By the way, if the floors aren't level you may think about getting a transit and shooting the receptacle height so they are all the same distance off the counter. I assume they will level the counters.
43" to
top?
center?
bottom?
