What is a torque motor?

430.52(D) and other sections of the Code refer to "Torque Motors" these motors, whatever they are, have their own set of requirements. Since these motors seem to be different from other motors, it is natural to ask what they are. The Code uses the term without a definition (as far as I can tell). Can someone suggest a source that might answer this question?
I have at least 7 different texts and/or reference books on transformers and motors and none of them mentions a torque motor.
Thanks

Iwire: I went to w.kaiser-motoren.com and found a torque motor. At least now I know that torque motors exist. I will have to do more studying to understand how these animals differ from the others so that I can make inteligent choices when I use the code.
Thank You,

I've wired several, they were valve actuators. The nameplate does not have a HP rating. You have to take the nameplate and work backwards to get the HP. One applicaiton had a 3/4 hp motor replaced by a torque motor, the branch circuit at 240 V ended up being 8 AWG with 40 A OCP. Seems excessive but thats the way it worked out.
