It is amazing how CU has gone through the roof here we can get over $3.00/LB. for bare bright CU. I was wondering what other parts of the country are getting?I was at my property in KY 2 weeks ago and there was an article about CU being stolen from poco poles are people willing to risk thier lives for a few bucks???I guess so since it became an issue large enough to be printed in the newspaper......

I just got an email saying that the price had fallen another 5% on the London Exchange, so maybe this craziness is easing a bit. (I hope)

I've heard $2.70/lb to as high as $3.20/lb, but that's all hearsay. So to be honest I have no real number. I do know that it is being stolen off of job sites we're doing. We're getting gang-boxes to put our spools into, just to be safe.

I sold a small handful of copper I had in my barn attic a few days ago (10 lbs). The scrap yard paid me $2.75/lb (#1 copper) for it. Price had been $3.00/lb just a couple of days before that.

The wages have always been lower in SC, even for the thieves! :)

IMO Gang box will not help we have been having gang boxes cut in half to get at the copper. get it in and heat it up is the only solution that has worked so far. thiefs will cut it off, pull it out, use a cutting torch or any means they can to get it. have even had them turn a 45 foot trailer over to cut through the wood floor to get at it. they used the LULL onsite for the purpose.
