Trying to find out what the American equivalent is to what we use here in Canada. We call it a splitter box or trough depending on configuration. I have tried to search the internet for UL approved ones and since I cant find them I am assuming that they are not used in the States.

So, what is your equivalent ?? Do you guys just mechanically join wires using nuts and insulate ??

Pictured below is what we would call a splitter trough

You can get a trough here in the US and use polaris connectors. They are insulated.

Look up these connectors and see if they are what you are looking for.

Hi. thanks for the reply.

So using your 1/10 rule (everything will be within 10 feet) I can use a#8 wire to feed my 30 amp disconnects.

Question would then be if there are polaris connectors which will accommodate 350mcm and #8?

I know that you can get connectors for 350 mcm and a lot bigger and I would think you could get one small enough for #8 (have never bought one that small).

If you are here in the states just go to a supply house because they probably have some on display. I know graybar does.

You may want to consider a Power Distribution Block that can be mounted in the wireway/gutter.
I believe they need to have a cover to meet current NEC.

Not sure why that didn't come up as a link, but you can copy and paste to your browser.
There are other manufacturer's as well.
You may have more success covering the broad range of wire sizes you need.

BINGO!

I'm quite familiar with splitters, just did not know if I could mount them inside a wire trough.

Thank you
