Excellent!
I travel a fair bit have found SatNav to be extremely useful. I'm sure you will too especially if your travel takes to obscure addresses. We do a lot of work in pumping stations and many of them are out in the boonies with no actual street address, just a postcode (like your zip code) and the SatNav has always been spot on.

The one that came with my current car has a few nice features and accepts voice commands like "nearest hospital", "nearest petrol (gas) station" etc. All good.
Well, like all new toys, you try it out. And we got one surprising result.
We live in UK and here pubs often serve reasonably good food at reasonable prices.
OK.
"Nearest pub."
"343 miles"
Now, this can't be right when there is one within 2 miles and probably 20 or more within 5 miles.
So cancel, and try again.
"Nearest pub."
"343 miles"
All right, maybe my Scots accent is confusing it. So I asked my wife, a Southern Belle to try it. Same result.
"Nearest pub."
"343 miles"
OK, I decided to accept it to see with happens next.
"This route involves a ferry crossing. Do you want to continue?"
Intrigued now but with a good idea of what's going on.
We were being directed to a Bistro in northern France.
Needless to say, we declined that option for a quick lunch.

what i got for christmas....

what i got for christmas....

my wife and i were walking into dinner last night, and it was starting to
rain, and there was this guy sitting outside, on a bench, eating someones
leftovers.

not a tweeker, not a drunk, just someone without options, making the best
hand from the cards he was dealt. eating other peoples leftovers. not
panhandling, not stealing, just enduring.

we got our table, and i went back out and handed him some money,
enough for a meal and a room. he may spend it how he chooses. not
my business.

my christmas gift? i had the money to give, and i wasn't sitting on the
bench eating someone else's charity.

i've done both.

you cannot truly appreciate anything until you have experienced the
opposite, and know the difference. i have done that, and i am grateful
for the experience.

if it can be burned or stolen, it really doesn't matter half a s***.

merry christmas, everyone.

It made you feel better to give then recieve, I'll bet. It's true.

It would be fruitless to look in my trash for left overs. I have three big dogs.

Got lucky this year. Older brother works at a manufacturing plant, closing up some division & his company was junking some old electrical stuff... Among other things he grabbed a couple of old analog clamp-on meters. I believe these were the original analog AMPROBE brand meters. They got the meter sets on a roller for the different displays reading voltage & amperage. Came with carrying case & all, i'll see if I can post a pic. Very cool.

Among other things I got some 18v batteries from the in-laws and some hand tools from my wife. But I think I had the most fun this year when she said a few weeks ago that she wanted some of her own tools for around the house, so I got to tool shop for her. That was cool.

I have absolutely nothing to top that story, actually that's probably the best thing I'll hear all day.

In this world, we have givers and we have takers. We know which one you are Randy. Nice jesture man, you must have floored him with that. I've been on both sides of the fence myself. People like yourself are few and far in between.

Thanks for sharing that, I know I'll be sharing it. Thanks Randy. Merry Christmas to you:smile::smile::smile:
