What's the Smallest Bolt-On Circuit Breaker Panel available commercially?
We're working on a project where the municipality has stated that the Circuit Breaker panel must have Bolt-On Breakers.
Unfortunately, size is a parameter. We only need 8 breakers.
Most of the commercially available panels with Bolt-On breakers I am finding have 24 breakers.
  1. Does anyone know of a smaller model?
  2. What are the downfalls of custom building an 8 Breaker Panel? Its possible. and I've seen it done, but we don't like to do things that way.

Go back decades & you had ITE Pushmatic.
Pushmatic bolt on breakers were bullet proof. We had them in the large slaughter house that I worked in back in the 1970's. Had a Pushmatic panel flush in one of the cold damp boning rooms that walls got washed down every night. About once a year had to replace the top two 20 amp breakers due to water. All of the homes built near me ( early 1960's had Pushmatic panels & breakers ). Reused the original Pushmatic panel as a garage sub panel maybe 40 years ago when I installed a 40 circuit service panel. Still have several NOS Pushmatic breakers that I purchased back in the 1970's. Neighbor liked to had a heart attack when I told him to go to a big box store and purchase a two pole 30 amp breaker for the one I replaced for his central AC. Told him that even with the very high breaker price he saved a lot for no labor charge.
