Puck lights with a single transformer. Then you can dimm all of the lights together. Low voltage requirements are more lax then high voltage requirements as far as wire concelement.

Really?

Have you read the requirements contained in Article 411?

If you want to conceal low voltage lighting conductors you must use a chapter 3 wiring method, NM, MC, AC, FMC, etc.

Hope this helps

I always hardwire Kitchler Xenon undercabinet lights. These come in a variety of lengths and colors ( most suppliers stock only white). 1 inch thick so it will hide behind the 3/4" cabinet rail. I usually do not us the supplied connector though, I take my Greenlee unibit and punch out at the proper location for a 1/2 plastic NM connector. This allows the light to sit closer to the back rail of the cabinet and keeps the hole through the back rail small enough to just run NM through.

IM doing a kitch now will use juno or kichler linear track xeun lamps works well also nsl and wac lighting make great products good luck

Try Juno Trac 12 and place a switched outlet inside the cabinet. The trac only sticks down 3/4" and is hidden by the front of the cabinet. Use the Juno plug in 60 watt transformer. The bulbs are xenon and do not get as hot as halogen bulbs. You can cut the track to length so that there are no dead spots on the counter top.

i am doing some under cabnit lighting my self in a new const i went with low voltage rope lighting it is slick check it out i bought my from my local supplier but their has to be a web site for them

our experience has been that rope lights burn out long before we think they should. Anyone else had this problem? we don't install them anywhere anymore, and steer customers away from them because of the burning-out issue.

This used to be true. I just did a local club's lighting work. They've been using rope lights on chase boxes since Thomas Edison for invented the disco ball. Anyhow, we just bought a whole new supply from an LED rope light manufacturer. It is a new install, so I can't comment immediately about the differences in lamp life (though we pretty much know the facts of LED versus incandescent), but I will say that they do look better than ever (instant on and off helps a lot).

By the way, it does make me laugh that all of a sudden rope lights are being pitched to the consumer as some great new thing for their home, when rope lighting has been around for a very long time.

Pegasus is who I used in the puck light post above, and I am happy with them so far (6 months in). They are definitely higher quality than what you would get at an orange/blue store.

They claim that the fixture wires are rated for in-wall use, but I couldn't find any documentation to support this. Like I said before, I used them on my own house, but wouldn't put them anywhere else

The above link ahs changed to:

My attitude towards the product has changed as well... I wouldn't put them in my house if I had it to do over again.
As a fan of fluorescents for under-cabintet lighting, I'm interested in your new-found opinion: wht not?

I still like the xenon, but the darn things started falling apart on me -- like virtually all other pucks that I know if....

I had said as much in another post, but since someone (presumably from Pegasus based on the name and the fact that it is their one and only post) took the time to make sure the link was up to date, I thought it worth repeating.
