725.61 for Class 2 & 3 wiring refers to riser rated cable for vertical runs "penetrating more than one floor". In residential single family dwellings (often of just one floor of living space) what constitutes a riser penetrating more than one floor? In a single floor home, is a cable run from basement to living space one floor penetration? What about attic to living space? What about basement, through living space, into the attic? And any normal 16" on center stud cavity is a riser right?
