DC. AC contracts and relaxes muscles, DC just contracts them so it's harder to let go. There are other reasons, too, but the answer is DC.

You will also notice that contacts that are rated for both AC and DC will have a lower DC than AC rating.

Nope, AC is more dangerous. AC causes ventricular fibrilation which is by far the most common cause of death following a shock, DC does not cause fibrilation it just stops the heart which is much more recoverable than being in fibrilation. In fact DC is used to treat a person in fib.

Also the minimum let go current (Level at which your muscles contract and you can't let go) is 10-20mA for AC. The min let go current for DC is 75mA. So it takes 5 times as much DC current to have the same effect.

IEC 479 and IEEE 80 are the 2 most recogonized standards on the effects of electric shock, and also is my reference.
 
When you die of electrocution, you are more dead from DC than you are from AC.

Seriously, it's all circumstantial. BOTH are dangerous, BOTH can be deadly. Edison tried in vain to prove that AC was more dangerous, the result was the Electric Chair. But in an earlier experiment that he caught on film, he killed an elephant with AC and it took an agonizingly long time to die. Tesla sat inside of a large Tesla Coil field and read a book to prove how safe AC was. It just went back and forth with no real conclusion.

In a 30+ year career, I have only witnessed one electrocution accident and that was from DC; a technician touched a DC bus on a large steel mill drive and was locked on for too long before we could find a 2x4 to push him off. But more people die from electrocution each year as a result of AC contact, because there is a LOT more AC running around to come in contact with.
 
Ask one of these two guys here in Dallas who got caught stealing copper. However it was 13.2

In case of DC,polarity of voltage also is important to cause electrocution.In one experiment two rabbits were connected in series across a DC voltage via a switch.On closing the switch,only one died and other survived.On reversing the polarity,the other also died.

I suppose it never occurred to him that the reason the second rabbit would die is because it was the only one still alive eh?

Or did the first one come back to life? If so, maybe he was plagiarizing an earlier work by V. Frankenstein. :ashamed:

The second rabbit did not die,despite DC was passing it,till polarity of DC voltage was reversed.

To know if it was polarity or something else the experimenter would have to look at thousands of details. It would not be a simple experiment.
Did the original experimenter give any details as to why polarity mattered?
