I think it was Mike Holt himself that said.....(not a quote).....something like......If you grab the code book only to try and prove you actions are compliant, chances are you have already messed up. I see what Mr Belarge is saying, but I still say If you choose to be in this trade, it comes with a certain amount of responsibility. It should be fair for an inspector to expect an electrician to have a working knowledge of the NEC and not only grab it in "panick Mode".

Mr. Belarge? Wow Pierre, you got a promotion.

Guess it's better than what most of us call you:D LOL

I think Pierre made some good points about code familiarity. When I went to school our instructor was an automation guy. Genius with PLC's. He hated code and didn't care how we got our assignments done. We got together in groups and every one answered a question or two and pooled our answers. We didn't learn a thing about code, other than to dislike it. Learning code for me has required diving head first into it. I have had to become a bit obsessed with it and to realise it wouldn't happen over night. Pierre is also right about the answers not always being easy to come by, but I think the NEC can be a lot like love in that familiarity can lead to contentment!:D

FYI: Anybody with "Belarge" in their name will be addressed as Mr, ( or sir) as far as IM concerned.....LOL!!
