ok, have any of you used this product?
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton...Arrester-Adapter-in-White-50240-MSA/302084822

saw it when pricing some other items, for my home in Jamaica, that is in an area where lightning has caused many neighbors problems, more problems from low voltage though...

just wondering, since system is ringed meters, and this would be in a meter on the property line, accessible by almost anyone willing to cut the meter tag and steel the meter... is it worthwhile? Or should I use other methods?
Home will also have alternate power and Amatuer radio gear so looking at grounding etc...

trying to make sure what what I need as everything needs bought in Miami and shipped basically... they do not stock tr stuff, for instance. Just because local code does not require it, since it is my own home, if it makes sense, I plan on doing it...

I would think the utility would have something to say about it. I have never used anything like that but I have used the ones that tie into a breaker in the main panel and there are some surge protectors that are just a special dp breaker and snap into the panel

Won't hurt anything to install it. You still should have supplemental surge protection at any critical equipment though, this would just be the first line of defense for any transient entering from the utility side.

It will do nothing for low voltage conditions you may be experiencing.

Don’t think anything can be done about low voltage. Too many Jamaican feel they can thief electricity and simply take over land... etc...

but... the pole transformer is right at my corner...so should be ok...

Constant low voltage probably not. intermittent sags, you can use UPS to ride through if the sags are causing problems.

People stealing the meters? Guess that results in extra low voltage:blink:

I thought that was made to slip into the meter base and then the meter ontop of that. If so I would think the power company would have something to say
