I'm looking for a top quality unit that's hard wired into the panel. Also I did a Google search & came up with an inductor at Brickwall.com instead of MOVs. Any thoughts?

are you looking for name brand? i've always used square D. I have a buddy that just introduced me to ditech surge suppressors. I haven't used one yet, but it supposedly has a lifetime replacement warranty. Someone else told me they weren't very good though.

I have installed many differnt brands and styles of surge suppressors, I have no clue how reliable any of them are. What exactly did they say was wrong with he ditechs?

he didn't go into detail. On second thought though, I'm not sure how reliable the source was. He sells panamax and was trying to push them on me and probably would've said anything was bad compared to panamax. My EC friend that is using them hasn't complained. He said they've replaced a couple that were hit w/ no problems from the manufacturer.

I Have been installing the Ditek DTK 120/240cm+ surge protectors for 10 years or more. Never had a problem with them at all. Ditek does make other surge protectors for larger installations but the 120/240cm+ fits 200amp single phase panels & is reasonable enought to stock on my truck.
I charge $175 installed for this surge protector. It not anything I'm going to get rich with. Its sort of a loss leader or even a service I provide my customers.

When these things first came out I bought the biggest 480V 3Ph box I could find. They didn't say what was in the box but, the warranty would be void if the rivets were drilled out, which I promptly did.

Found handfuls of MOV's soldered L-L & L-G hard to say if they worked, but our computers didn't need new motherboards quite as often after we installed it.

After that I would always solder three 130 V MOV's in all my equipment.
