Width of working space

let me also correct a previous statement by saying that all electrical equipment that is required to have a "width of working space" per NEC can share working spaces provided that the front of each equipment is flush with one another.

There is no requirement for equipment fronts to be flush with one another. The height of working space requirement [110.26(A)(3)] permits a depth difference of up to 6".

Not a requirement, but If you want them all to share each others width of working space they need to be flush.

So where the time clocks are currently located (above the panels) would they not already be in violation of the width of workspace requirements?

(I sure wish I would have taken a poll as to whether moving the time clock lower and between the panels was ok or not)

Everything in the picture (other than wall and ceiling :D) is electrical equipment. No violation.

Other electrical equipment is also not a foreign object.

Never said it was.

Other electrical equipment can share vertical working space, but not extend more than 6" beyond the front of the eqmt. per 110.26(A)(3). Horizontally, electrical equipment must satisfy the width of working space per 110.26(A)(2). The width of working space starts at the front of the electrical equipment and is 30" wide. So like I said, electrical equipment may share the same width of working space as long as they are flush.

Where does it say the width of the working space starts at the front of the equipment. It says that for depth of working space, but not the width.

To sum it up, you are being too nitpicky. :happyyes:

Not being nitpicky. real estate is at a premium in electrical rooms so one needs to be savvy with spaces about electrical equipment to get everything to fit.

110.26(A)(1) tells you the depth of working space.
110.26(A)(2) tells you the width of working space "in front" of the electrical equipment. Not sure how else you interpret that...

See the first quote. You have contradicting statements. In one sentence you say there can be a 6" difference and in the other, they must be flush. Are you saying if the equipment isn't within the same vertical working space that the 6" allowance does not apply? If you say yes, I call that nitpicking.

if you read my comment more thoroughly you would see that I am talking about two different working spaces, vertical and horizontal. You call it being nitpicky, i call it being in compliance or not.
