I PLAN TO UPGRADE MY 60A SERVICE TO A 200A SERVICE. THE LOCAL CODE ONLY REQUIRES NEW PANELS OR UPGRADES TO BE 150A MINIMUM, WHICH WOULD BE ADEQUATE FOR MY HOME, BUT THESE ARE HARD TO FIND LOCALLY. THE SERVICE DROP FROM THE POCO (CENTERPOINT ENERGY) IS #2 AWG- NOT 2/0 AWG- TRIPLEX. I'VE READ THE 2014 NEC AMPACITY TABLES AND OF COURSE, #2 WIRE WON'T SAFELY CONDUCT 200 AMPS. HOWEVER, SINCE THE POCO'S CONDUCTORS ARE IN FREE AIR AND ARE COPPER (NEUTRAL ALUMINUM), WILL THEY BE ABLE TO SAFELY HANDLE A NEW 200A SERVICE? I WILL USE 2/0 FOR THE SE CABLES THROUGH 2" RIGID SERVICE HEAD/MAST FOR NEW METER CAN, OUTSIDE DISCONNECT, AND NEW PANEL. ANY INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
