Wing Nuts or Wire Nuts

I would like to see a poll on this. I always use wing nuts for the ease of tightening. But the wire nuts seem to take up less space.
Does anyone know if this a true statement, that wire nuts take up less room than wing nuts?

I use Buchannan's B-Cap's normally, which are about halfway in between a wing style and the traditional wire nut.

I use the 3m tan and red. They are very easy on the hands and don't slip back evry time you twist it .

I use the same. I like the way a 5/16 nutdriver will tighten a "tan".

I have worked with a lot of WING NUTS, for the last two years the biggest wing nut of all times. Makes the day go faster.

If I have any say in the matter, I always use the Ideal Twisters and Ideal red Wing Nuts. I always buy Ideal brand - never GB or the knock off brands like NSI or Sunstar.

I've found that the winged style connectors have a wider range of connections than they regular wire nuts, which is nice.

That said, every contractor I have ever worked for was too cheap to buy the wing nuts.

Anybody use the newer one's with the black rubber grippy stuff on them? I bought a few buckets full to try out. They got good reviews, but they're a little bit salty. I might start using them anyhow, since everyone seemed to like them okay.

Are you talking about the Ideal Twister Pro? If so, yes, I've used them, and I think they're the best wire nut out there. But there a little pricey as wirenuts go, at 10 cents a piece.

I think the angle on those new nuts is too steep. They advertise a greater range of wire sizes, but I don't believe they bite as well. I do like the small orange/blue nuts though.

I prefer the 3M R/Y and the O/B wire nuts
I like the rubber boot on the bottom and they are easier on my fingers.

I know there is some scrap 3/4 EMT on my van, but I will have to stop by the supply house to buy the correct wirenuts.

The guys at my supply house tend to lean towards 1/2" PVC and the yellow Marrettes. You can get some stinging power if you swing a 2-foot section of conduit in a chopping motion, especially if the marrette is weighted with a 1" screw.
As the story goes, in one of their more epic battles they 'lost' an entire 500-count bag. I can attest to the fact that when they moved to their new location we swept up at least several hundred in the old warehouse, at which point we took great pleasure in imparting star-shaped dimples in the drywall. Picture 6 guys running around with scraps of PVC, star wars lightsaber sound effects, and yellow wirenuts disintegrating upon contact with concrete walls. (I was there to move their cameras and DVR, but it looked like too much fun)
