URD stands for Underground Residential Distribution and URD cable is use by electric utilities for the installation of service cable and secondary. However, some of it has a dual rating and may be used inside by looking up the ampacity with the recognized type letters. If the cable is just rated "URD" there will be no information in the NEC. :)
