Wire feed to seperate building

Got a garage that currently has a 3 wire feeder overhead to a pole right next to garage that simply comes down the pole and straight into garage panel. Pole is rotten at base and needs replacement. Question, When was the three wire allowed to feed like that from the house panel? And can this be left in place as is, if simply moving attament point to a new pole if it was compliant at time of originally installed?

2005 was the last code edition that allowed the neutral to be re-bonded.

You could leave it or wrap another wire around it to add your fourth conductor.

Well this was done originally before that. So I guess question is if the act of re-poleing the wire is a significant enough of a change to require a complete re-wire of over a 150 feet of SE and Triplex.

Ok, the pole is broken off at the ground. The only thing keeping it upright is strapping to the garage and the guide wire. So only request was to put in a new pole. No real change to what was, other than the pole. Re-poleing.
