Wire insulation code question; VFD/Chillers and RS485 = 600v??

This was brought up and this inspector was having none of it. He was bringing up the lack of 600v rated control wire in factory supplied UL stamped panels.

We got the super expensive wire that made him happy and moved on with our life.
