Wire Insulation in wet location

Recently I was told that the NEC now requires that the insulation on wires placed in conduits in wet locations (e.g. from the outside disconnect to the A/C compressor) must be rated for use in a "wet" environment because the conduit is located in a wet location. It was also stated that since the A/C outside disconnect is located in a "wet" location, the insulation of the wires or cable supplying power from inside the structure to the disconnect also must be rated for use in a wet environment.

Is this really a requirement? If so, please identify the code paragraph so I can get myself up-to-date!

I didn`t see anything in re: to sealtite, but 300.5 D 5 says that conductors installed under ground must be listed wire for wet location.Maybe that is what they were referring to.

Good morning-

NEC 310-8 (c) The fact your line side wires are entering the disconnect (RATED NEMA-3R), Then Your inspector see's that as a wet location. I think if you conductors are coming thru the back of the disconnect if mounted on wall and there is no exposed conduit that this is a stretch.Just my opinion.
