This question concerns wire mesh cable tray (wmct). I can't seem to find the percent fill for the smaller sizes of wmct with power conductors, "where all of the cables are smaller that 4/0 awg"... - art. 392.9 (A)(2). The smaller sizes of wmct is supplied in 2 and 4 inch widths, which table 392.9 doesn't address. The manufacturers web, such as Cablofil, seems to only speak in terms of pounds per foot. Need help.

Wire Mesh Cable Tray

Thanks for the reply M.D. unfortunately, I have seen these two sites and they don't excactly have what I am looking for. The Hoffman site speaks in terms of 50% for control cables, which we know, and 40% for desired fill for power, but what does the NEC say? B-Line has a nice calculator, but what percent fill is it using? On another note, this type of cable tray is no longer in the tel-com sector only, but we are seeing this cabel tray explode in the industrial sector because of cost.

Thanks,

JS

We have looked the use of this product for plant use and it is restricted only to short branch runs from the main tray to single equipment. Because it does not have the same structural rigidity as class 20C ladder tray we deemed it unsuitable for main tray run installation.
