Is it quicker to pull wire through underground conduits then above ground? Would think all else being equal it would be the same.
Could be quicker if you're already set up with a puller mounted on a truck. Is it quicker to pull wire through underground conduits then above ground? Would think all else being equal it would be the same.
Would agree.Would think all else being equal it would be the same.
"all else being equal" Sorry, I gotta play with this. So, a simple underground pull would be at least 18 inches down from grade, then "X" number of feet horizontal, and then back up at least 18 inches. A "being equal" above ground pull would start at least 18" above grade, down to grade, the "X" number of feet along grade, and then back up at least 18 inches above grade. If pulling by hand, I'd much rather do the underground pull. Above ground could even require getting on a ladder or platform. Is it quicker to pull wire through underground conduits then above ground? Like a reel truck?Could be quicker if you're already set up with a puller mounted on a truck.
So your opinion is that underground would/may go quicker?"all else being equal" Sorry, I gotta play with this. Yes, all else being equal. But would that ever be the case? For instance, I just made a run of 1" rigid from a pole meter/breaker to a sub panel, about 80 feet, with one 90 degree turn, four #6 wires. This was run above ground on caddies. If it had been run below ground, there would have been three 90's, a much harder pull. But then you can't say all else being equal. So your opinion is that underground would/may go quicker?
