I have a 600amp service. Copper water lines coming in and 2 ground rods, my grouding electrode conductor would be the 3o/t I ran to the water. My supplemental would me the #4 bare i ran to the rods.

Am i right so far?

So according to 250.66(A) my grounding electrode conductor running to the rods shall not be required to be any larger than a #6.

So what if there is no copper water lines. Now my only ground is my rods. Am i still allowed to have only a #6.

What about a duplex with 2 200amp panels and plastic water lines coming in, (more common than not these days), still a #6?

Re: wire sizing

The grounding electrode conductor to a rod or plate type of electrode is never required to be larger than #6 copper by the code.
