wire splicing

I am replacing a residential main service panel with a new one that has more spaces. This panel is in a utility area.
On the existing panel there were 2 circuits to a couple of the breakers; these are 220 circuits. So that is one reason for the upgrade.

There are two 50 amp breakers in the panel that go to a electric furnace.
The furnace itself has two 60 amp breakers on it. The wire between the two is 6/3 romex with a run of 40'. The conductors are red, black and white.
Whoever hooked up these circuits when the electric furnace was installed did not do it correctly. On one of the circuits the white wire was attached to a breaker and now is not long enough to reach the neutral bar. Is there a way to splice on to it or what should be done? Will this wire have to be replaced?
